While December is usually a lean month for two-wheeler manufacturers, Suzuki has announced a 50 per cent jump in two-wheeler sales, this year.
Suzuki sold 32,786 two-wheelers in the domestic market in December 2017 as opposed to the 21,362 units in the corresponding month in the previous year. The demand in international markets has also gone up, as Suzuki exported 7,000 two-wheelers in the last month, up from 5,133 units in December 2016. Cumulatively, Suzuki’s sales grew by 50 per cent. In the first three quarters of the current financial year, Suzuki’s sales numbers have jumped by 39 per cent.
Suzuki’s growth in India has been spearheaded by the Access 125, which accounts for more than half of the numbers. The 125cc scooter has turned into a cash cow for the manufacturer ever since it received an overhaul over a year ago. Even the Intruder has gotten off to a good start. The Gixxer on the other hand, continues to sell in steady numbers. Select dealers have also been giving cashback offers on the Access and Gixxer range to attract customers.
