Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced that it has registered a 3.64 per cent increase in sales. The company sold 33,287 units in May 2015 as compared to 32, 117 units in the corresponding month last year.
The major contribution to this growth is because of good performance by the Gixxer and its faired sibling, the Gixxer SF. While till now Suzuki mainly relied on its scooters like the Access 125 for maximum sales, its new premium motorcycles have helped them gain market share and also increase their overall sales.
Along with the mass market segment, Suzuki is also focusing on the superbike segment, which has seen a double digit growth. The company recently launched the GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F to strengthen its position in the segment.
“Suzuki continues to experience positive growth in sales, even as the Indian economy struggles onto a recovery path. We have witnessed an upward growth trajectory since the launch of the Suzuki Gixxer and are confident that Suzuki will continue to experience this growth in the months to come," said Atul Gupta, executive vice president, SMIL.
