As for 2017-18, Suzuki reported a 43 per cent growth in sales over 2016-17, achieving the highest volume in a financial year. The company shot past its target of five lakh two-wheelers, by selling 5.01 units. Comparatively, in 2016-17, Suzuki had managed to sell 3.50 lakh two-wheelers. The Access 125 has played an instrumental role in helping Suzuki achieve this feat. Including exports, Suzuki sold 5.74 lakh two-wheelers, which reflects a 36 per cent growth over the last year.
On the network front, Suzuki now has 1,028 touch points across the country of which 505 are exclusive dealerships. The company has fallen short of achieving the target of 1,087 touch points by the end of the financial year. In the next financial year, the company will be adding 200 more touch points.
Suzuki has shifted its focus from mass market motorcycles to scooters and premium motorcycles. With an aim to sell 10 lakh two-wheelers by 2019-20, the company will be introducing two new products every year. The locally-assembled GSX-S750 and the Access 125-based Burgman Street will be the company’s next two launches.
