Suzuki Motorcycle India is planning to assemble its legendary motorcycle, the Hayabusa at their facility in Haryana. Currently, the company sells the Hayabusa as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit from Japan.
The reason behind this development is because of the growth in the premium superbike segment in the country. Over the last few months, this segment has seen a growth of more than 30 per cent. Companies like the Benelli and Ducati recently started selling their entire range of motorcycles in the country. While some of the manufacturers assemble their big bikes in India, few of them like Kawasaki import completely built up (CBU) units from Thailand, where Indian shares a free trade agreement (FTA), due to which they are able to price the bikes competitively. This has urged Suzuki to assemble the Hayabusa in the country. As per a report by ET, assembling the Hayabusa will result in a price drop of Rs 5 lakh from the current price of Rs 15.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Suzuki has been selling the Hayabusa in India since many years now. In fact, it was one of the first litre-class bikes to make its way to India officially. The fan following for the bike in the country is quite impressive and we won’t be surprised if the sales of the Hayabusa triple when they assemble the bikes in India.
