Suzuki is going to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic GSX-R superbike by rolling out a special livery. The Team Yoshimura Suzuki race bike will sport a special red and black livery during the AMA Superbike race, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in America.
Inspired by the red and black livery of the original 1986 GSX-R ridden by Kevin Schwantz, this striking paint scheme will adorn Roger Hayden’s bike this weekend at Indianapolis and at the 2015 MotoAmerica finale, in September. Even the entire crew of Team Yoshimura Suzuki and Roger are going to follow the commemorative red and black-theme for their gear and the racing leathers.
Speaking about the GSX-R’s 30th anniversary, Mr Don Sakakura, Sr. VP, Yoshimura R&D of America said, “We are excited to be able to do our part to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the GSX-R. We at Yoshimura are very pleased that we played a part in launching the GSX-R line in America in 1986 with Kevin Schwantz as our primary rider. It’s only appropriate that such an iconic motorcycle be honoured at one of the truly iconic racing circuits of the world.”
Since it started competing in 1986, the GSX-R has been one of the most successful superbikes in supersports racing series across the world. The GSX-R also helped Suzuki become the all-time leader in AMA Superbike racing series. Suzuki hasn’t yet revealed any plans of introducing this captivating paint scheme for production motorcycles. Last month, the Japanese manufacturer unveiled a new blue and white livery for the flagship GSX-R1000 superbike, inspired by the original paint scheme of the production-spec 1985 GSX-R750.
