Suzuki is going to unveil a new factory built concept based on the SV650 streetfighter at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Show. Called the SV650X, this bike will be an evolution of the SV650 Rally concept which was shown last year.
Visually, the Suzuki SV650 Rally had been styled to look like a cross between a modern roadster and a 1970s rally car. Given the amount of interest drawn by the SV650 Rally, the company will be unveiling a closer-to-production version of the bike. We can expect it to feature similar tank extensions, single seat cowl, lowered handlebar, headlamp grill and small fairing.
Under the skin would be the same 645cc V-twin engine, which delivers 74bhp and 64Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. The only change would be an aftermarket exhaust, most likely sourced from Yoshimura. With the trend of modern classics and neo-retro bikes growing rapidly, we can expect to see the production version of the SV650X go on sale very soon.
