Suzuki Motorcycle India has unveiled a new 155cc motorcycle named as the Gixxer in the presence of Bollywood actor and the company’s brand ambassador, Salman Khan. The new model will go on sale in June this year along with the new Let’s scooter.
The new Suzuki Gixer looks sporty and is positioned in the premium segment. The design of the bike has been inspired from the bigger sports bikes from Suzuki. The styling of the bike’s exhaust, which is something that grabs eyeballs at first sight, has traits have been borrowed straight from the Suzuki GSX-R.
Though the bikini fairing on the bike looks similar to the street-fighter fairing on the Pulsar 200 NS, this is a nice change in what is otherwise a bland lineup. With telescopic shocks in the front, the bike boasts of a neatly carved meaty tank. The motorcycle has a large drum brake at the rear and a mono shock suspension. The clean looking tail, which adds to the sportiness of the bike, comes with body coloured grab rails. The tail lamp is the normal multi-reflector one and not the swanky LEDs that are becoming common these days.
Suzuki has powered the motorcycle with a four-stroke single cylinder air-cooled 155cc engine which is equipped with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology to deliver both good performance as well as fuel efficiency. The company claims that the chassis of this bike has been developed by the engineers who designed the legendary GSX-R series.
Suzuki will display the Gixxer and the scooter at the 2014 Auto Expo scheduled to take place this February in New Delhi.
