- 2023 V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE revised
- Both models get new features, mechanical tweaks
- V-Strom 1050DE replaces the older XT model
Suzuki has unveiled the 2023 range of its most potent ADV, the V-Strom 1050 in Europe. The bike is available in two variants: V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE. Both models have received some notable changes for the new year, let’s take a closer look at them.
Carrying over the styling, the V-Strom 1050 range now gets a better-looking TFT screen than the predecessor’s unit. The rider aids on the Japanese ADV have been retained. So it also gets the six-axis IMU, lean-sensitive ABS, hill hold, cruise control, riding modes, and traction control. But making the overall package even sweeter is the bi-directional quickshfiter or clutchless up and downshifts.
Mechanical changes on the 2023 V-Strom 1050 comprise a revised gearbox with a longer first and last gear and an overall closer gear ratio between the first five cogs. That said, the 1037cc V-twin liquid-cooled motor remains unchanged with the output rated at 107bhp and 100Nm.
The V-Strom 1050DE takes the previous 1050XT’s spot and is set to be a more off-road-friendly model. It gets a 21-inch front spoke wheel that translates to longer wheel travel. The DE also gets a wider handlebar which should provide more leverage along with wider footpegs. Suzuki has equipped the V-Strom 1050DE with an engine guard, belly pan, and longer swingarm than the standard model. It features a gravel mode to alter the traction control and switch off the rear wheel ABS.
Suzuki is yet to reveal the asking price for the 2023 V-Strom 1050 range. For reference, the previous year's V-Strom 1050 costed GBP 9,999 (approximately Rs 9.18 lakh excluding taxes) in the UK. However, Suzuki India hasn’t made any announcements about bringing the bigger V-Strom(s) to the country anytime soon.
