Suzuki has unveiled a new special edition of its popular adventure touring motorcycle, the V-Strom 1000 Adventure, at the Motorcycle Live 2014 in Birmingham, UK. Called the Dessert edition, the motorcycle is mechanically identical to the standard version, though it gets a new paint scheme and some extra equipment to justify the extra GBP 600 (Rs 58,568) it costs over the regular V-Strom 1000 Adventure.
The V-Strom 1000 Dessert edition is painted in a new khaki colour scheme and gets a matching colour-coded seat. Other standard equipment include luggage panniers, a centre stand, heated grips and LED fog lamps. The engine also gets extra protection in the form of bars, while hand guards offer protection for the rider.
The V-Strom 1000 Dessert also comes with a Garmin 590 navigation system, which alone costs more than GBP 500 (Rs 48,812). This makes the V-Strom 1000 Dessert edition a really sweet value for money proposition. Though it is very unlikely that the Dessert edition will be introduced in India, you can opt for the standard V-Strom 1000, which retails at Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The V-Strom competes with other adventure touring motorcycles like the Triumph Tiger 800XC and the upcoming Kawasaki Versys 1000.
