- Over 1600 units of V-Strom 800DE recalled
- Tyre has a defect
- Indian bikes likely to be affected
Suzuki has recalled its new V-Strom 800DE adventure bike in the US. This recall is related to the rear tyre, over possible defects from the factory.
According to the recall notice, the V-Strom 800 DE could have been equipped with a rear tyre that could develop cracking or other deformation of the tread. Due to this, some portion of the tyre tread may separate from the tyre and impact the riding dynamics of the motorcycle. If the rider continues to ride the V-Strom 800DE in such a condition, there could be a risk of an accident.
A total of 1688 units of the V-Strom 800DE have been affected due to this issue. However, there’s still no information on the bikes that have also been sold in India. We have gotten in touch with Suzuki India for this update.
Suzuki India assembles the V-Strom 800DE in India, by importing all the parts from Japan. There’s a high chance a few bikes in India could be a part of the recall as well, as the tyre supplier is from Japan. The company plans to get in touch with the affected customers and ask them to bring the bikes to the nearest service centre. It looks like the defective tyre will be replaced with a new one free of cost.
Update: Suzuki India has also recalled all units of V-Strom 800 DE that have been sold in India till date over this tyre defect.
