- Suzuki launches the BS6 V-Strom 650 XT in India
- Demands a premium of Rs 1.38 lakh over the BS4 model
- Receives changes only in its engine
After teasing the BS6 model of the V-Strom 650 XT recently, Suzuki has officially launched the motorcycle in India. The new version of the middle-weight adventure tourer has been priced at Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom) which is a substantial hike of Rs 1.38 lakh over its BS4 counterpart.
The price hike seems too steep and unjustifiable since the only change the V-Strom has received is in its engine. The 645cc, 90-degree, V-twin engine of the bike has been internally revised to comply with the new BS6 emission norms. Although Suzuki hasn’t revealed its power figures, we know they have remained majorly unchanged. The Euro5-compliant iteration sold abroad produces 70bhp and 62Nm which is nearly the same as before.
In terms of styling, features and cycle parts, Suzuki has left the V-Strom 650 XT BS6 completely unaltered. It sports a vertically-stacked headlamp, beak-like front faring, a tall windscreen, knuckle guards and an LED tail lamp. The list of features includes a semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS and a three-level traction control system. Furthermore, the hardware package includes spoke wheels at both ends suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock. Stopping power comes from twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
In the middle-weight adventure touring segment, the new Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT BS6 locks horns with the Kawasaki Versys 650 which costs Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
