- Will replace V-Strom 650XT in India
Suzuki has started testing the V-Strom 800DEadventure bike in India. Two prototypes were spotted on a test somewhere in North India.
These spy shots make us believe the Japanese brand plans to launch this adventure bike in India. Currently, it sells the V-Strom 650XT through some of its premium showrooms. However, the sales of this middle-weight motorcycle have decreased over the last few years. The V-Strom 650XT was launched in India almost four years ago, and barely any significant upgrades have been made to it. So it looks like the right time to launch the 800cc version.
Suzuki offers the V-Strom 800DE with a 776cc, parallel-twin engine capable of churning 83bhp and 78Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. As for features, the V-Strom 800DE comes with multiple riding modes, a two-way quick-shifter, traction control and a five-inch TFT screen. The motorcycle has a 21/17-inch spoke wheel combo wrapped in Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres to credit its off-road ability. Suspension is sourced from Showa with a pair of fully-adjustable forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. It also gets a decent ground clearance of 220mm and a seat height of 855mm.
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE takes on other players in the segment, like the Triumph Tiger 900 and the BMW F850 GS. We expect this Suzuki to launch in India later this year at around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
