Suzuki rolled in 2022 with its first offering as the V-strom 250 for India. It’s the Japanese bikemaker’s most affordable ADV in the Indian portfolio and the third quarter-litre offering overall. Here are its top five highlights.
Design
The baby V-strom is evidently based on the 1050 that’s sold in the international market. It’s quite visible in the V-strom SX’s tall stance, slim but muscular bodywork, tall windscreen, beak and the silhouette as well. Unlike the V-strom 250 sold in Japan, the SX gets a different fascia which is reminiscent of the Gixxer 250, on a good note.
By the looks of it, the ergonomics seem to be comfortable. The handlebar is pushed towards the rider and the footpegs are neutrally placed. All this should translate to an upright rider triangle.
Motor
The V-strom SX benefits from a 249cc single cylinder oil-cooled motor that dishes out 26.5bhp and 22.2Nm. It’s the same motor that the manufacturer uses for the quarter-litre Gixxer line. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Features
Suzuki has been quite thoughtful on the feature front. The V-strom SX gets LED illumination and a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. Apart from the tell-tale details, the console allows you to pair your smartphone and gives alerts on incoming messages, calls, and WhatsApp, lets us access turn-by-turn navigation, gives speed exceeding warnings, and displays phone battery level. You also get a USB charging slot.
Not to mention, you also get a rear luggage rack with the V-strom SX.
Underpinnings
Though an ADV, the Suzuki V-strom SX doesn’t ride on long-travel suspension. It gets a telescopic front fork and a monoshock at the rear. The braking hardware consists of a disc brake at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
You get a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wrapped in dual-purpose 100/90 front and 140/70 rear rubber.
Price and Colours
Suzuki has priced the V-strom SX at Rs 2,11,600 (ex-showroom). That’s about Rs 21,000 more than the Gixxer SF250 and Rs 32,000 more than the Gixxer 250. You can buy the V-strom SX in three colours: Orange, Black and Yellow.
