Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced the launch of the V-Strom SX in our market at an ex-showroom (Delhi) price tag of Rs 2,11,600. This motorcycle competes in the quarter-litre adventure segment of the Indian market. Previously, we brought you the top five highlights of the new Suzuki V-Strom SX.
Now, we list the alternatives to the new V-Strom SX, that are available in a similar price range. Do note that we have not mentioned the KTM 250 Adventure and the Benelli TRK251 in this list as they retail in a much higher price range than the V-Strom SX.
Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 2.15 lakh)
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is the Chennai-based manufacturer’s first adventure tourer that has been around for over half a decade. The motorcycle retails at a marginal price premium over the Suzuki V-Strom SX. For that premium price tag, the Royal Enfield Himalayan packs more off-road focused hardware than the newly launched Japanese product. The Royal Enfield adventure tourer rides on wire-spoke wheels in a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear combination. The mechanical specifications on the Himalayan include a 411cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that makes 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm. The feature list comprises a halogen headlight, semi-digital instrument cluster, and Tripper navigation system.
Yezdi Adventure (Rs 2.10 lakh)
This Royal Enfield Himalayan doppelganger is available at a near similar price tag as the Suzuki V-Strom SX. However, unlike the Himalayan, the Yezdi Adventure uses a liquid-cooled motor that delivers a higher power output figure. The 334cc, single-cylinder motor delivers 28.7bhp at 8,000rpm. The torque output is rated at 29.9Nm at 6,500rpm. The off-road-focused hardware includes wire-spoke wheels in a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear combination. The feature list, similar to the Suzuki V-Strom SX, comprises LED lighting and Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 (Rs 2.11 lakh)
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 is a scrambler-style motorcycle that is based on the KTM 250 series. This motorcycle from Husqvarna packs an appealing design that is complemented by commendable power output. The 248.76cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor is tuned to deliver 29.6bhp at 9,000rpm and 24Nm at 7,500rpm. The feature list misses Bluetooth-connectivity. However, the Svartpilen packs full-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, 17-inch alloy wheels on both wheels, and upside-down front forks.
Bajaj Dominar 400 (Rs 2.17 lakh)
Bajaj Auto’s flagship motorcycle is available at a marginal premium over the Suzuki V-Strom SX. While the Dominar 400 is not designed for off-road riding, it received an upgrade to enhance its touring capabilities. These upgrades include a windscreen at the front, knuckle guards, tail rack, saddle stays, and a pillion backrest. This product packs the highest power output on this list. The 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor makes 39.4bhp at 8,800rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The feature list misses Bluetooth connectivity but packs full-LED lighting and a split-style digital instrument cluster.
Yezdi Scrambler (Rs 2.05 lakh)
The Yezdi Scrambler packs soft-roading hardware that includes 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. The feature list comprises full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster. Unlike the Yezdi Adventure, the Scrambler misses Bluetooth connectivity. The stylish design is complemented by the 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 28.7bhp at 8,000rpm and 28.2Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm.
