Suzuki’s Yamaha MT 15 rival launched in Taiwan

- 2020 Suzuki Bandit 150 launched in Taiwan

- Powered by a 147cc, liquid-cooled engine

- Unlikely to be launched in India

Suzuki has launched the 2020 Bandit 150 in Taiwan. The motorcycle is a strong competitor to the Yamaha MT-15.

The Japanese manufacturer has packed in a 147cc, single-cylinder engine with liquid-cooling in the Bandit 150. This engine is capable of churning out 19.3bhp at 10,500rpm and 14Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. In comparison, the Yamaha MT-15 sold in India puts out 17.9bhp at 10,000rpm and 13.9Nm at 8,500rpm. Suspension duties on the Bandit 150 are handled by telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock sourced from Showa. Meanwhile, it uses a 290mm petal disc at the front and a 187mm disc at the rear for braking.

The Suzuki Bandit 150 has credible performance figures and hardware. However, thanks to its commuter-ish styling, the Bandit 150 is a perfect example of being a wolf in sheep’s clothing. In terms of features, it comes with LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp, fully-digital instrument cluster and hazard lamps as standard. And as part of the 2020 update, it is offered in three new colours- red, black and grey.

While it won’t be launched in India, a Gixxer and Gixxer SF with the same potent engine as the Bandit 150 would surely make for an interesting proposition.
