Team Mugen has announced its assault on the TT Zero class of the 2015 Isle of Mann TT with the new Shinden Yon. Represented by John McGuiness and Bruce Anstey, Team Mugen will attempt to defend the 2014 title of the mountain course on this electric superbike.
The Shinden Yon, which stands for Shinden ‘Four’, is the fourth generation of the electric superbike, and a successor to the Shinden San. Powering the superbike is a 110kW electric motor which is rated at 220Nm of torque. This engine boasts of 10 per cent higher power output than its predecessor, though the torque figures are same. This extra horsepower however, comes at a price and the Shinden Yon now weighs 10 kilograms more than the Shinden San.
This year’s edition will mark the fourth edition of the TT Zero race, in which riders have to complete one lap of the 60 kilometre mountain course. Last year’s TT Zero race saw John McGuiness break the electric superbike lap record on the Mugen Shinden San. The 2015 Isle of Man TT races will be held from May 30 to June 12 at the Isle of Mann.
