- Team South Africa clinches winning title at BMW GS Trophy 2020
- Team France and Italy finished second and third, respectively
- Team India bagged 200 points to finish on 19th position
After eight days of grueling competition with the riders conquering 2500kms of treacherous terrain and overcoming daunting challenges in New Zealand, team South Africa was announced the winner as it outperformed other 21 teams to take home the BMW GS Trophy 2020.
This is the third time South Africa won the competition after showing their mettle in Thailand and Mongolia in 2016 and 2018, respectively. Finishing on second position was team France which, at 382 points, was just 12 points shy of South Africa. Scoring 380 points, team Italy closely followed France to finish the contest at third spot.
After facing different types of tricky challenges for seven days, day eight brought along toughest course for the riders which comprised of 24 river crossings and rocky terrain through the 70 km route around Queenstown. Besides riding through the arduous course astride the BMW F850 GS bikes, the riders also executed other tasks such as Jerrycan challenge and Parkour which tested their individual skills as well as the level co-ordination each team had amongst them.
Team India also displayed a commendable performance at the BMW GS Trophy 2020 by successfully completing all the challenges throughout the eight days of ultimate adventure and finished 19th with 200 points.
