The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is the World’s most powerful, single-cylinder engine motorcycle. It has just gone on sale in India and at Rs 16.50 lakh, the price tag is astronomical to say the least. Our high import duties are to be blamed for it but that's a story for another day. For now, lets see the bike in detail through images to know more about it.
The Hypermotard 698 has a very supermoto bike like design and in that respect the design is very purposeful. There’s a long seat, slim fuel tank and a prominent beak under the LED headlight. The side panel is long and covers the subframe, except for a small area that’s left exposed. The tail section is more like a lip while bits like the dual, under seat exhaust pipes are neatly executed.
Coming to the heart of the matter, the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is powered by a 659cc, liquid-cooled Superquadro Mono engine. The big single makes 77.5bhp and 63Nm. It gets a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. A quickshifter can be opted as an extra.
Moving on to the hardware, the bike employs a steel trellis frame that’s bolted on to a steel tube subframe. It has a USD fork at one end and a monoshock at the other. As for the braking setup, it has a 330mm disc with Brembo M4.32 calipers.
The bike has a decent set of electronics as well. The list includes four ride modes, three power modes, cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control.
At present, the bike is available in the standard variant, in the Ducati Red colours. The RVE variant, with the graffiti style graphics and standard quickshifter, will be available in India at a later date.
