- Harley-Davidson 338R spotted
- Gets chassis, engine from Benelli 302S
- Might not be launched in India
The world knows about Harley-Davidson’s intention of launching their most affordable bike. And now, the same motorcycle has been spotted in the open for the first time. It goes by the name Harley-Davidson 338R.
The motorcycle that was leaked on Chinese social media reveals huge details. While we know the bike will borrow most of its cycle parts from the Benelli 302S, it is for the first time we can actually connect the dots. The main frame, sub-frame, wheels, suspension and even brakes are from the Benelli 302S. The 338cc engine too, is from the Benelli but gets a larger bore and stroke. So this Harley is likely to churn out power of around 43bhp.
This motorcycle was planned for global launch sometime this year. But the company recently revised its future strategy by cutting down 30 per cent of its portfolio and focusing on regions that brings in the most revenue.
It is still not sure whether the American brand will axe the 338R or will continue with its earlier plans of launching it in markets like India. But there have been rumours about Harley-Davidson India cutting down its India business. If the rumours are true, then the HD338R is unlikely to come to India.
