The Motorcycles we want this Christmas
We are dedicated, passionate and rather obsessed with motorcycles; no doubt we want motorcycles all year round. Well, Christmas is not just another excuse to add to the list of motorcycles we wish to have. Christmas is different; we are armed with a paper and pen, gunning down our dreams, wishing an old man with a seven-reindeer powered vehicle will bring us our rides.
Saint Nicolas! Let's hope you are reading it this time!

Dear Santa,
I’ve owned a few motorcycles now, and every single one of them was good for something or the other. However, none of them has been truly good at taking me places in comfort at speed. No, I don’t want an expensive import, because there always is a shortage of spares, and manufacturers’ spares and maintenance pricing is such that you need to have gold hidden in your back yard. What I want is a made-in-India adventure cruiser that is capable of cruising at 100kmph and a tank range of 400km. Bonus points for something that is equally fun and durable off-road as it is on tarmac. I don’t particularly care who makes it, as long as it is made before I’m an old man.

Cynics say that electric mobility is more than just an alternative to petrol powered vehicles; our ability to breathe and survive depends upon it. Well, so what I want this Christmas is an electric superbike. In some ways, the concept of an electric superbike defeats the whole purpose. An electric vehicle is supposed to be a sensible alternative which would conserve our resources. An electric superbike on the other hand, is like an electricity-powered windmill. That doesn’t really bother me though. While there hasn’t been a dearth of electric concepts from Indian start-ups, the one which really caught my eye is the Emflux Model 1. I really hope that unlike the others, this one actually ends up on our roads. And if it does, I would be more than happy to cross out the Impulse from my wish list.

It's been too long. And I have been too patient. So much so that I even bought a used 390 Duke to keep me sane. But not anymore. Christmas is here and I WANT the 390 Enduro now!
Dear Santa, I don't care about lack of colour options, or an uncomfortable seat, or even the odd exhaust note - typical of KTM India products. But I want that 390 powerhouse in a light, long travel, hardy and slim chassis.
And because I have been such a good boy this year - I went to work, attended PTA meets, and motorcycled more than the year before - I should have one now! I have even invested in a really tall tree this year, so the bike could fit under.

The new KTM 390 Duke was kinda love at first sight. The styling, performance, safety and even the pricing convinced me to get one. But unfortunately, things didn't work out, monetarily, so had to postpone the plan. The bike is still in the top of my wishlist and hopefully will take it off soon, maybe after this Christmas season.

Dear Santa, I know I have been adamant about wanting a KTM 390 Duke this Christmas but, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 caught my attention. It may feature on your naughty list for being mean and a potential bully to the KTM RC 390, but at its heart is the sweet(sounding) 399cc parallel-twin. So droolworthy, I would'nt mind waiting three months more!
What do you wish for this Christmas? Do let us know on our Facebook page or through our Twitter feed. Let’s hope Santa manages to deliver it all at a single go!
