The Sausage Creature is Greasemonkeys custom shop’s take on how a modern day café racer should look like. The name is inspired by a mythical creature that appears when a cafe racer runs out of luck and ends up in a crash, eating the racer’s skin, breaking his bones and turning him into human sausage. The gory bit aside, it would be impossible to judge that The Sausage Creature is based on a 2008 TVS Apache RTR 160, thanks to the slew of cosmetic modifications. Here is a detailed photo gallery of Greasemonkeys’ The Sausage Creature -
The café racer character is highlighted by the round chrome-rimmed headlamp, wooden tail cowl, brown seat and the twin-pod analogue instrument console.
The lowered clip-on handlebars, rear set foot pegs and the old-school fuel tank give The Sausage Creature an aggressive riding position.
However it is not just styling that has been overhauled. The Sausage Creature also boasts of heavy performance modifications to give it the grunt to match its looks.
Propelling The Sausage Creature is a re-bored 165cc single-cylinder TVS RTR engine, which can rev up to 14,000rpm!
The engine has been upgraded with high-lift cams, a multi-map CDI and a free-flow exhaust to improve performance.
Tipping the scales at 116 kilograms, The Sausage Creature is about 20 kilograms lighter than the TVS Apache RTR 160.
To improve the handling, Greasemonkeys updated the front suspension setup with beefier 41mm forks in place of the 29mm ones on the host bike.
The brake setup consists of a 270mm disc brake up front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear. It rides on sticky Michelin Pilot tyres.
The Sausage Creature is Greasemonkeys’ first custom bike build, and their next project involves building a brat racer out of a Honda CB Unicorn. That should be interesting!
