-First service cost revealed
-Cost of parts detailed
-Costs less money to service than its CBU competitors
The Aprilia RS 457 is the Italian manufacturer's first motorcycle to be made in India. This parallel-twin engine equipped motorcycle is priced at Rs 4.10 lakh, ex-showroom. At this price the bike offers terrific value, especially when you consider its CBU competition, the Yamaha R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 500.
While Aprilia has ramped up production to meet the growing demand for the RS 457, the question that lingers is how much does it cost to service the bike? Afterall, buying a bike is only one part of owning it while maintaining it is a different ball game. BikeWale reached out to an Aprilia authorised service centre to get details of the first service and the costs involved.
At the first service, which is to be conducted between 1,000 or 1,200km, or 1-1.5 months, whichever is earlier, the cost is Rs 3.930. This includes engine oil that costs Rs 1,872, the oil filter that costs Rs 1,184 and the chain cleaner and lube which costs Rs 250 each. The rest of the money goes into consumables and taxes. Aprilia also suggests customers to carry out a engine flush and add an additive for better health of the engine that costs Rs 1,200. This, however, is optional.
The second service is recommended at 6,000 to 6,500 km or 6 to 7 months from the date of sale. The third service is to be conducted between 12,000 to 12,500km or a year from the time the bike was purchased.
The service cost of the Aprilia RS 457 is quite affordable when compared to that of a Kawasaki Ninja 500 whose first service cost is anywhere between Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000.
