- 338R will be most affordable bike
- India launched cancelled
- Will be made in China
The world knows about Harley-Davidson’s most affordable bike. Now the world also knows about the company’s intention of cutting off models and exiting some not-so profitable markets. India is one of them. But that doesn’t mean the company would stop its expansion plans.
The Harley-Davidson 338R- a motorcycle designed and developed alongside its Chinese partner, Qianjiang –the company that owns Benelli, is likely to make its world debut soon. A few weeks ago, we got you the image of the production ready 338R. But now, thanks to some leaked design pictures, we finally know how the bike will look when it hits production.
This motorcycle is built on Benelli’s 302S parallel-twin platform. In fact, the mainframe, suspension, brakes – all have been borrowed from its Chinese cousin. But the overall design language is new, and quite aspirational.
Unfortunately, this bike won’t be sold in India as the company recently shut its manufacturing plant in Haryana. And it won’t make sense for the company to bring this bike from China as an import.
