Honda’s current 12th generation CBR1000RR has been around for quite some time , so much so that the motorcycle is slower than newer lower capacity motorcycles. Here is a picture of what maybe the next generation CBR1000R Fireblade.
Honda had launched the 12th generation CBR1000RR in 2012 with its smooth 999cc inline-four cylinder engine. The motorcycle, back then, was competent with 168bhp and its torque figure of 106Nm. In 2014, Honda retuned the engine for additional power, modified rider position and added a new windscreen. Furthermore, they also added a performance oriented "SP" variant. The motorcycle still lost out in terms of sheer power as compared to its rivals. Further on, almost every bike it was competing against took their power figures up to around the 200bhp figure mark. 2016, the CBR1000RR is leagues behind its litre-competition not only in terms of power, but in electronic gadgetry as well.
The much awaited 2017 CBR1000RR will be in its 13th iteration and from what the picture suggests it is about to get a major change. The motorcycle may lose its inline-four cylinder engine for a V4. The powerful new V4 engine will put Honda back in the game. The motorcycle could also get some of the electronic gadgetry from its road legal MotoGP-motorcycle elder brother, the RC213V-S. The motorcycle also looks significantly sharper but we cannot go there as this could be part of the magazine graphic artist’s imagination.
The current Honda CBR1000R Fireblade sells for Rs 17.13 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The next generation model will likely be priced slightly higher. Stay tuned to BikeWale for more updates.
