TVS Motor Company will launch three products by January 2016. This plan includes the re-launch of the Victor, 200cc Apache and a new four-stroke moped.
Venu Srinivasan, chairman, TVS Motor Company, confirmed the manufacturer’s plan while addressing the shareholders of the company at their 23rd Annual General Meeting recently. Though the current fiscal is a bit slow in terms of sales, he believes that 2016-2017 is when sales of two-wheelers will pick up.
The company expects the Victor to cater to the executive segment, where the company still has a low presence. The re-launch of this motorcycle will help the manufacturer garner a firm foothold here. We expect it to be powered by the same 110cc engine from the Star City and to be slotted below the Phoenix 125.
The 200cc Apache is also on their list of new launches. It will be based on the Draken X21 concept showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. It is a much-awaited product and is expected to have a power output of around 25bhp pitting it against the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS in the naked category of motorcycles below the one lakh price bracket.
The third bike, the new four-stroke moped is expected to be a successor to the TVS Heavy Duty Super XL, which is the only moped available in the Indian market. It recently crossed the one crore sales mark and riding on the huge success of this two-wheeler, TVS will look forward to replicate this success with the new four-stroke moped.
