Christmas is here, and there’s a few things we’d love to find in our stocking. The five motorcycles you see can’t be had as easily as forking over some money to a manufacturer; some are plain old sold out, while others are entirely handmade, so will take a long time to make it to your garage. It’s up to Santa then, to deliver what we’d like during this holiday season. Here is our not-so-modest list:
FGR Midalu 2500 V6
Not many have heard of this Czech manufacturer, but the Midalu V6 promises a ton of fun. 240 bhp from a V6 engine should be enough for anyone, but we’d love to have one just to look at – each of the parts you see are all handcrafted, which is why one will be finished only every eight weeks. Oh, and you’re going to need about Rs 1.5 crore if Santa doesn’t pull through. You can ogle the Midalu here.
Norton V4 SS/RR
British engineering hasn’t been very well represented by the motorcycle manufacturers other than by Triumph, but while that firm has been targeting numbers, the Norton V4 in both forms will have a production run of 450 units. A 200bhp 1.2-litre V4 with all the possible electronics available today means the ability to outrun everyone without the fear of overcooking it. The more expensive (and more exotic) SS was slated for 200 units and would have cost around Rs 60 lakh if sold here, but is already sold out. We’ll settle for an RR, Santa. Just make it happen.
Ducati Superleggera
215bhp, 167kg, and a run of only 500 units that has already sold out. Obviously. Oh, and a full suite of electronics to keep the rubber side down. The promo video shows this supersport motorcycle sliding around, with chunks of tyre departing the sliding motorcycle. That won't be as fast as the money leaving your pockets, though - it would have been priced at over Rs 1 crore for the Indian market! With a paint job that reminds us of the Desmosedici, the Ducati Superleggera even looks the part. Might need a touch of green to fit in with the season, is all.
Kawasaki Ninja H2R
The H2R won’t need much green; it is the fastest product from Team Green, after all. If you thought the Superleggera was quick, well, the H2R with its supercharged engine that produces 300bhp will show it a thing or two in a straight line. Give it enough road, and it will top out at 400kph. That should be quick enough for Santa to get everywhere on time, we’re sure. Again, it is sold out for 2016 but Kawasaki is cooking up an updated batch for 2017 so you might want to keep that Rs 70 lakh ready. Nevertheless, either will make it a merry Christmas for us.
Lazareth LM847
This one is so out-of-this-world, we bet even Santa has it on his Christmas list. There’s only one working example as far as we know, and it runs on four wheels via a single speed gearbox fed from a 470bhp, 4.7-litre Maserati V8.Yes, there is a reverse gear as well. Oh, and it can lean into turns, and you sit like you would on a motorcycle, but literally draped all over the engine. No, we don't know how much it costs; if you have to ask, you're probably not going to be able to afford one anyway. We’re not sure what we’re going to do with it, but hey, we want one. As do you, we’re sure. So how about it, Santa? We’ve been good this year, after all!
