Ducati recently launched the 2018 Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak in the Indian market. A celebration of their victory at the 2018 edition of the Pikes Peak hill climb competition, this bike will be sold in India in limited numbers. Here are the top five changes that set the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak apart from the standard bike -
Exclusive paint scheme
The most evident change is the paint scheme. The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak gets a red, white and black paint scheme inspired by the race bike which won the Pikes Peak. This livery is unique to this variant.
Carbon fibre components
While the other variants get tall windscreens, the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak gets a short and sporty carbon fibre fly screen along with a small plexiglass screen. Even the fender and the air intake cover are made out of carbon fibre. These give the bike a lightweight appeal.
Lighter wheels
The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak rides on lightweight forged aluminium wheels sourced from Marchesini, in place of five-spoke wheels on the other variants. Overall, the weight saving amounts to six kilograms.
New suspension
While the standard and 1260 S variants get Sachs suspension setup, the 1260 Pikes Peak sources its suspension from Ohlins. It gets 48mm inverted front forks and a TTX36 rear mono shock, both of which are manually adjustable for preload, compression and rebound.
Performance exhaust
The 1262cc powertrain might be the same, but the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak breathes through a Termignoni slip-on exhaust system. It does not affect the power output, although you do get a loud and sporty soundtrack.
