For 2018, Bajaj has breathed new life into the Avenger Cruise 220 and Street 220 with a slew of cosmetic updates and new features. We take a look at the points of distinction between the old and the new Avenger 220 siblings.
Redesigned headlamps and windscreen
While the previous Avenger 220s featured a simple design, Bajaj has added some flair with a new design for the headlamp and the windscreen. The Cruise 220 features an inverted triangular headlamp while the Street 220’s headlamp gets an oblong shape. Also, both the bikes now feature LED DRLs. The windscreen on the Cruise 220 is taller and gets a more aerodynamic shape. The Street 220 on the other hand, gets a small and sporty flyscreen.
New paint schemes and graphics
The bodywork is the same, although the new paint schemes and graphics give the bikes a fresh look. The Cruise 220 makes abundant use of chrome for a classic look, while the blacked-out components on the Street 220 give it a sporty look. The Cruise 220 is available only in glossy paints – white and black, while the Street 220 is offered only in matte paints – black and white.
Digital instrument console
Bajaj has given the Avenger Cruise 220 and the Street 220 dual digital displays, just like the Dominar 400. The main console above the handlebar retains the round shape, although it now gets a digital display. The one on the fuel tank integrates tell-tale indicators.
Longer suspension travel
While the hardware is similar, Bajaj has increased the rear suspension’s travel by 12 per cent. This should improve the Avenger 220’s ride quality.
New price tag
The most surprising bit about the new Avenger 220 is the price tag. Even with all these updates, the Avenger Cruise 220 and the Street 220 retail at Rs 92,954 (ex-showroom), which is a measly Rs 510 pricier than before. Now that’s a bargain!
