The TVS Ntorq 125 is easily the best 125cc scooter on sale in India. It is an excellent package that amalgamates noteworthy performance and best-in-segment features. The Ntorq 125 uses a 124.8cc, three-valve, air-cooled motor that makes 9.25bhp at 7,000rpm and 10Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. Its engine comes paired with a CVT unit and is rev-happy and offers good performance throughout the rev range. The scooter is available at a starting price of Rs. 84,636 (ex-showroom), while the top-spec XT trim costs Rs. 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom).
Suzuki Avenis 125
Another good option is the Suzuki Avenis 125. Yes, its design is quite similar to the TVS Ntorq 125, but the Avenis 125 combines practicality with refined performance. The scooter uses the same 124.3cc, air-cooled engine that powers the Burgman Street and the Access 125. Then, the motor produces 8.58bhp at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm. The Avenis 125 is available in three variants that are priced between Rs. 89,900 to Rs. 92,300 (ex-showroom).
Honda Grazia 125
The Honda Grazia 125 is the sportier, outgoing cousin of the Activa 125. If you want the practicality and reliability of the Activa but are bored of its family scooter design, then the Grazia 125, with its stylish looks, is what you should consider. It is powered by a 124cc engine that pumps out 8.14bhp at 6,000rpm and 10.3Nm at 5,00rpm. The motor is mated to a CVT. The Grazia 125 is the most affordable 125cc sports scooter in India, with prices starting from Rs. 82,520 (ex-showroom).
Yamaha Ray ZR 125
The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 is the only sporty 125cc scooter in India to get a mild-hybrid powertrain. The scooter uses a starter generator in conjunction with the 125cc, air-cooled motor that generates 8.04bhp at 6,500rpm and 10.3Nm at 5,000rpm. The Ray ZR 125 benefits from a silent start system and an auto start/stop function, which improves its fuel efficiency. Moreover, the starter generator also helps during quick acceleration, thereby taking some load off the engine. The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 will set you back by Rs. 84,730 (ex-showroom) for the base trim and goes all the way to Rs. 95,830 (ex-showroom) for the top-spec Street Rally version.
Aprilia SR 125
The Aprilia SR 125 is by far the most expensive 125cc sports scooter in India. That said, it is also the most powerful of the lot, although by a tiny margin. The SR 125 is available in a single variant, priced at Rs. 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom), which is almost Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 more than the competition. It is powered by a 124.45cc, air-cooled motor that produces 9.97bhp at 7,300rpm and 10.33Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. The SR 125 offers an excellent handling package and the engine offers engaging performance. However, the stiffer suspension setup comes at the cost of a firm ride quality, making it a bit uncomfortable to ride it in the city.
