The Auto Expo is by far the biggest automotive show in India. Manufacturers use it as a platform to display their technological prowess and give us a hint of what we can look forward to in the near future. This year will mark the 14th edition of this biennial event. Here are the top five two-wheelers that we are looking forward to see at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The Aprilia SR150 has singlehandedly turned Piaggio’s fortunes. The scooter was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, and went on sale later in the year. Thanks to the SR150, Piaggio group recorded a 77 per cent growth in sales, last year. For 2018, we expect the company to strengthen the SR brand with the launch of the new SR125. Apart from this, we can expect Vespa’s premium models like the GTS 300 and the 946 to be showcased at the event.
The Hero XPulse is the bigger and more powerful Impulse that we have been dreaming of since forever. It was unveiled at the EICMA Show last year, although this is the first time it will make a public appearance on Indian soil. It will be based on the same 200cc air-cooled engine that we have seen in the Xtreme 200R, and we can expect it to be launched here by the end of this year.
Suzuki GSX-S750
The sales of the Suzuki Hayabusa have doubled ever since the company started locally assembling the motorcycle in India, thanks to the price cut. At the Auto Expo, the company will be launching the GSX-S750, which will be the second locally assembled Suzuki big bike in the Indian market. Like the ‘Busa, we can expect the GSX-S750 to sport a competitive price tag.
Suzuki Burgman
The Gixxer and the Intruder hint at Suzuki’s approach of branding their premium commuter motorcycles with the names of their halo products. Following this approach, the Japanese manufacturer will be launching a premium scooter, christened as the Burgman. Styled to look like a maxi-scooter, the Burgman will be positioned above the brand’s top-seller – the Access 125.
BMW F 750 GS and F 850 GS
BMW Motorrad will have two launches at the Auto Expo – the F 750 GS and the F 850 GS. Both are adventure touring motorcycles, featuring an 853cc parallel-twin engine. The company will also be showcasing the G 310 R and the G 310 GS.
