As the motorcycle market is gearing up for a slew of launches for 2019 we list five bikes that are due to arrive this year priced under Rs 2 lakhs.
Hero Xpulse
The Xpulse is the most anticipated bike of 2019 from Hero Motocorp. Although with a few delays, the Xpulse is scheduled for a launch sometime around February. The adventure-touring will also be available in a touring variant called the Xpulse 200T. Both bikes are built on the same platform but get slight changes like different wheels, suspension and exhaust to suit their specific purpose. The Xpulse 200 is powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 18.4bhp and 17.2Nm and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. We expect the ADV variant to be priced around Rs 1.10 lakhs while the touring variant is likely to retail at Rs 98,000.
Yamaha MT-15
The Yamaha MT-15 was unveiled in Thailand last year and is expected to arrive in India sometime this year. It will be positioned below the FZ25 which retails at Rs 1.19 lakhs. The MT-15 is a streetfighter version of the YZF-R15 V3 and sports a design language similar to its bigger sibling, the MT-09. Underneath its futuristic looking skin, the bike uses the ‘Deltabox’ frame which houses a 155cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 18.7bhp and 15Nm of torque. While the international spec MT-15 gets inverted front forks, the Indian version is likely to miss out on those to keep costs low. The Yamaha MT-15 is likely to carry a price tag of Rs 1.15-1.20 lakhs.
Suzuki Gixxer 250
Suzuki is reportedly working on a Gixxer 250 specifically for the Indian market. The bike’ styling is based on the Haouje DR300/ Suzuki GSX-S300 that was showcased in China. It gets an aggressive streetfighter stance that has been borrowed from the GSX-S1000 and sports LED headlamps, an LCD screen and upside down forks. While details of the engine haven’t been revealed, the unit is expected to be a 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor. We can expect the Gixxer 250 to retail around Rs 1.30 lakhs and directly compete with the Yamaha FZ-25.
2019 Bajaj Dominar 400
The 2019 version of the Bajaj Dominar 400 is likely to arrive in the Indian market in the next couple of months. Going by the spied images, the bike will get a redesigned radiator guard and exhaust. It will also get a dual-channel ABS system as standard. However, the major change on the 2019 bike is the inclusion of inverted front forks borrowed from KTM. Apart from these additions, the Dominar will remain unchanged. While the current bike costs Rs 1.63 lakhs, the 2019 model is likely to get a price hike of around Rs 12,000.
UM DSR Adventure 200
UM Motorcycle is scheduled to launch a number of bikes this year, one of which is the DSR Adventure 200. The adventure-touring bike is likely to be launched in the first half of 2019 carrying a price tag of Rs 1.40 lakhs. It is expected to be available in a touring focused variant which rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and dual-sport tyres. The DSR Adventure 200 is powered by a 196cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 16bhp and 16Nm of torque.
