It’s an undeniable truth that the world is rapidly moving towards electric mobility. And that’s why we already have a lot of EV makers in India. However, several big names are going to jump on the electric bandwagon in the near future while the existing ones will expand their line-up. In case you’re planning to bring home an electric scooter but are waiting for more products to break cover, here are the top five electric scooters to be launched in India.
Suzuki Burgman Electric
To start with, Suzuki is working on its own electric scooter for the Indian market. But it is unlikely to be an all-new product from the ground up. As per the frequently emerged spy shots, Suzuki’s first electric scooter might look identical to its Burgman Street 125 ICE scooter. The only differentiating factor the test mule sported was the lack of an exhaust. To read more about the Burgman Street electric, click here.
Ather electric maxi-scooter
It looks like Suzuki’s will not be the only maxi-styled electric scooter as Ather has also filed a patent for an electric maxi-scooter. The patent image reveals a large windscreen, a bold front apron, a flatter and longer seat, and a roomy footboard which are elements typical of a maxi-scooter. It is likely to deliver a higher top speed and a longer range than Ather’s existing 450X offering. For more titbits on it, head here.
Ola Electric scooter
Ola Electric is another brand that seems to have herculean plans regarding its entry into the Indian EV space. Besides releasing a teaser image of the scooter it is likely to bring to India, Ola has also revealed other plans regarding the eco-system it plans to create. Hero-Gogoro electric scooter
Apart from being the best-selling two-wheeler brand in India, Hero MotoCorp is soon going to join the queue of EV makers. And accompanying it will be the Taiwanese brand, Gogoro, which has signed a strategic partnership with Hero for India operations. Together, the duo will setup the charging and battery swapping infrastructure in India while Hero will launch its own electric two-wheeler.
