The Auto Expo is the largest automotive exhibition in India with a number of manufacturers launching their products here. For 2018, the country witnessed a slew of motorcycles, scooters and EVs being unveiled; however only a few were launched. We bring to you the top six launches from the 14th edition of the biennial event-
Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0
Yamaha launched the R15 V3.0 at a competitive price of Rs 1.25 lakh in India. The R15 V3.0 sports a completely refreshed look with a design language inspired by its bigger supersport siblings. The bike also sports a bigger, more powerful engine as compared to the previous model along with a slipper clutch as standard.
Yamaha YZF-R3
The YZF-R3 was discontinued in India last year with the industry’s move to BS-IV emission norms. However, the Japanese manufacturer reintroduced the bike in India with a price tag of Rs 3.48 lakh. The YZF-R3 not only sports a BS-IV compliant engine but also comes equipped with an ABS unit and stickier Metzeler tyres.
Aprilia SR125
2018 seems to be the year for 125cc scooters in the Indian market and Aprilia did not want to fall behind. The manufacturer launched the SR125 at the Auto Expo with a price tag of Rs 66,764. While the scooter looks similar to its bigger sibling it differentiates itself with the new colours and badging.
Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX
The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX is for those who want the power of the Ninja H2 with the ergonomics of a touring motorcycle. The bike’s name and LED headlamp unit might seem familiar, although it serves a completely different purpose. The Ninja H2 SX sports a dedicated touring package which includes a cruise control system, cornering lights and panniers. The standard H2 SX is priced at Rs 21.8 lakh while the H2 SX SE comes with a Rs 26.8 lakh price tag
Emflux One
The Emflux One is the manufacturer’s first EV and India’s first electric superbike priced at Rs 6 lakh. The Bangalore-based manufacturer also offers the bike with carbon-fibre panels, Brembo brakes and an Ohlins suspension setup for Rs 11 lakh. Powering the bike is a liquid-cooled, AC induction motor that produces 67bhp and 84Nm of torque with a range of 200km on a full-charge. (both prices on-road)
Twenty Two Flow
The Twenty Two Flow is an electric scooter with a combination of modern and retro styling. It is powered by a DC motor and Li-ion battery that produces 90Nm of torque and propels the scooter to a top speed of 60kmph. The Flow also gets electric brake force distribution, cruise control, reverse mode, drag mode and a ‘take-me-home’ mode. It is priced at Rs 74,740.
