Top 6 two-wheelers launched in June 2020 in India

The nationwide lockdown currently prohibits the manufacturers from hosting grand launch events. However, that didn’t stop brands from launching new products online. The month of June 2020 witnessed a host of new entries in the two-wheeler market and we list the top six of them. 

Hero Xtreme 160R

Honda CD 110 Dream Front Right Three-Quarter

After unveiling the Xtreme 160R in February this year, Hero launched the all-new sporty commuter last month. The main highlight of the motorcycle is its radical styling which is based on the Xtreme 1R concept from EICMA 2019. It also comprises of segment-first features such as full-LED lighting, hazard switch and engine cut-off switch. Powering the bike is a 160cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine which churns out 15bhp and 14Nm. The pricing is also attractive at Rs 99,550 (front disc) and Rs 1.03 lakh (dual disc).

Honda had gone on a launch spree last month as it introduced multiple models back to back. First of them was the CD 110 Dream BS6 which is the brand’s most affordable motorcycle in India. It is available in two variants – Standard and Deluxe which are priced at Rs 64,505 and Rs 65,505, respectively. Although the new BS6 model features the same 109.51cc, air-cooled engine, it gets fuel-injection in place of carburetor and makes 8.6bhp and 9.30Nm. Honda has also added new features such as a silent ACG starter and engine start/stop switch.

Another addition to Honda’s portfolio was the Livo BS6 premium commuter which sits above the CD 110 Dream. The former sports a styling which is fancier than the latter while the funky graphics and blacked-out hardware further enhance its sporty appeal. Besides the revised styling, the motorcycle has also received new features which most of the BS6 Honda offerings incorporate. The motorcycle runs the same engine which does duty on the CD 110 Dream. 

Honda Grazia BS6

Honda’s scooter line-up was also updated with the launch of the new Grazia 125 BS6. The premium 125cc scooter hasn’t just received a cleaner engine but it also boasts of a sportier and more futuristic design over the previous model. The feature list is also longer now and it shares most of the equipment with the new Activa 125 Fi such a LED headlamp and tail lamp, external fuel filler cap, integrated headlamp beam and pass switch and more. The two-pod fully-digital console also shows more information now. With the prices starting at Rs 73,336, the Grazia BS6 is up to Rs 16,000 more expensive than its BS4 counterpart. 

Triumph Tiger 900

The premium motorcycle segment saw the entry of a new middle-weight adventure tourer – the Triumph Tiger 900. Three variants of the motorcycle have been brought to India including the road-biased GT and adventure-oriented Rally and Rally Pro versions. These variants differ in terms of hardware and features. Notably, the Tiger 900 replaces the Tiger 800 series which was on sale in India earlier. Besides the all-new design, added features and tweaked cycle parts, the motorcycle runs a larger 888cc in-line triple motor which is good for 93.9bhp and 87Nm. The prices of the bike start at Rs 13.70 lakh and go up to Rs 15.50 lakh. 

Ampere Magnus Pro

The Ampere Magnus Pro is the first electric two-wheeler introduced since the commencement of the COVID-19 lockdown. Priced at Rs 73,990, it is the most expensive offering in the manufacturer’s fleet of five e-scooters. The 1.2kW electric motor of the Magnus Pro is powered by a 60V,30Ah lithium-ion battery which is claimed to deliver a range of 70-80km. While the top speed is limited to 55kmph, the 0-40kmph acceleration is achieved in 10 seconds. Furthermore, it is also a high-tech product with elements such as full-LED lighting, anti-theft alarm, remote keyless entry and a digital display.
