The Auto Expo is the biggest platform for automotive manufacturers in India. The biennial event which took place this year witnessed a number of launches. However, manufacturers also showcased motorcycles and scooters that are expected to debut this year. Here is the list of the top unveils at the 2018 Auto Expo-
Suzuki Burgman Street
The Burgman Street will be Suzuki’s premium scooter offering in the Indian market. While the scooter borrows its maxi-scooter design from the Burgman 650, it shares its platform with the Access 125. Powering the scooter is a 125cc, single-cylinder engine that is expected to produce 8.5bhp and 10.2Nm of torque; same as the Access 125.
The scooter is expected to arrive in the first half of 2018 with a price of around Rs 70,000.
Aprilia SR125 Storm
The SR125 Storm is based on the standard SR125 and borrows its bodywork and powertrain from the latter. However, the SR125 Storm gets an off-road theme and comes with eye-catching yellow and red paint schemes along with black graphics. It sports smaller 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in fat dual-purpose tyres along and gets a tall windscreen as accessory to boost its appeal.
Aprilia RS150
The RS150 made its global debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. The bike is based on the RS125 that is sold in European markets but with an all-new engine. The 150cc single-cylinder motor produces 18bhp and 14Nm of peak torque. Aprilia displayed the RS150 with ABS, upside down forks and quickshifter, although the manufacturer might not offer the same to maintain a competitive pricing.
While there is no confirmed launch timeline, we expect the bike to be priced around Rs 1.4 lakhs.
Hero Xpulse 200
The Xpulse 200 is a successor to the Impulse and the motorcycle gets various features to make it off-road capable. It gets an off-road style front mud guard, visor, hand guards, an engine sump guard and a high raised exhaust outlet. To further boost its off-road ability, the Xpulse gets 190mm of suspension travel for the front and a 10-step adjustable monoshock at the rear with 170mm of suspension travel. It also gets 220mm of ground clearance.
The bike also sports a fully-digital instrument cluster; a first time for a Hero motorcycle. Powering the bike is a 200cc air-cooled engine that produces 18.4bhp and 17.1Nm of torque via a five-speed transmission. Likely to be launched in the second half of this year, the Xpulse 200 is expected to cost around Rs 1 lakh.to Rs 1.10 lakhs.
BMW G310 GS
BMW unveiled the smallest member of its iconic GS family– the G310 GS for the first time in India at the Auto Expo. While it is based on the streetfighter G310 R; the G310 GS is a touring motorcycle. It draws inspiration from its bigger adventure-touring sibling, the BMW R1200 GS.
The G310 GS is powered by a 313cc, water-cooled, single-cylinder engine which delivers 33bhp and 28Nm of torque via a six-speed gearbox. The launch of the G310 GS has been delayed for a while, although it is now expected to arrive in the second half of 2018. The BMW G310 GS is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 2.70-Rs 3 lakhs.
Suzuki GSX-S750
The GSX-S750 is meant to fill the void that Suzuki has in the sub-1000cc streetfighter segment. The bike will compete against the Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple S and the Ducati Monster 797 when launched sometime this year. It uses a 749cc in-line four cylinder engine that produces 113bhp and 81Nm of torque via a six-speed gearbox.
It is expected to be launched in a few months with a price tag of Rs 7 lakhs-Rs 7.5 lakhs.
