Top 6 upcoming ABS motorcycles and scooters

There are new regulations in place that demand that all new two wheelers above 125cc should have ABS. Here are the ones we’re looking forward to the most:

1. Honda XBlade. The CB Unicorn 160 was the first to give us linked brakes in the segment, with its funky three-piston front brake calliper. However, the CB Hornet 160R is the first on the platform to offer ABS, and the XBlade can’t be far behind. It will be the perfect mix of practicality and style among the three. Expect a price increase of around Rs 6000 for a single-channel ABS variant.

2. Yamaha YZF-R15 V3. The R15 missing out on ABS at the time of its launch was a measure to keep costs down, but it would have been the icing on the cake. It will certainly get the ABS eventually. And this will make it one of the top options for that price if a tech fest is what you’re looking for.

3. Aprilia SR150. Everyone's favourite performance scooter is available only with a front disc brake. So it’s only a matter of time before the range becomes ABS-equipped. Don’t expect dual channel ABS, however, since the rear remains a drum brake.

4. Vespa SXL and VXL 150. Just like the Aprilia, the Vespa range of 150cc scooters will offer a front disc brake with ABS, giving you a stylish, neo-retro option if that’s the way you prefer your scooter.

5. Bajaj Avenger series. Representing the cruiser market, but at the affordable range, the Avenger will get ABS for both its 180cc and 220cc variants. This bodes well for those who want their cruiser on a budget but aren’t willing to skimp on safety.

6. Yamaha FZ25. Yamaha’s other sureshot candidate for ABS is the FZ25, its streetfighter offering, which     occupies the space just below the R15 in its pricing hierarchy. Happily, the FZ getting ABS also means that its fully-faired counterpart, the Fazer 25, will also get ABS as standard. Its 250cc displacement notwithstanding, it will get a single-channel ABS system to keep costs in check.
