Top five costliest bikes in India

The Indian two-wheeler market consists of motorcycles that cater to nearly all kinds of requirements. Be it an economical commuter with staggering mileage figures or a machine to show off the owner’s longing for speed, exclusivity and, of course, wealth; the Indian market has it all. Here, we are focussing on the latter category. If you are planning on buying a motorcycle which is not only ravishing, fast and feature-rich, but also expensive enough to stay elusive in India, here are the top five options you should consider.

5. Indian Roadmaster -

While Indian Motorcycles has a bunch of retro-styled tourers and cruisers in its portfolio, the Roadmaster is its flagship product. Apart from the comfortable ergonomics, it carries a flamboyant design which is sure to turn heads. While the front is dominated by a large fairing and sweeping fender, the rear gets sizeable panniers and a pillion seat which looks nothing short of a sofa. Then there’s the humungous 1,811cc, air-cooled engine which makes 138.8Nm of torque. All of this can be had for Rs 42.15 lakhs.

4. Harley-Davidson CVO Limited -

Where the Indian Roadmaster is already a full-size premium tourer, the Harley-Davidson CVO Limited takes exclusivity to another level. That’s because it is the most expensive touring bike in India. We are talking Rs 51.73 lakhs. Developed by Harley’s Custom Vehicle Operations division, the CVO Limited comes with an extensive feature list including cruise control, 6.5-inch infotainment system, heated hand grips and a security system. Powering this behemoth is the company’s Milwaukee-eight mill which displaces 1868cc and is good for 168Nm of torque.

3. Ducati Panigale V4 R -

Besides the laid-back tourers, the Indian market also has some swanky, fire-breathing sportsbikes which are far from just fully-faired motorcycles. One of them is the Ducati Panigale V4 R. While the V4 series models mark the Italian bikemaker’s transition from L-twin to four-cylinder powerplant, the ‘R’ version is further exotic as it is a homologation special. In other words, it’s a proper race bike which Ducati uses in WSBK championships. Apart from the impressive electronics, Marchesini wheels and race-spec Ohlins, it gets a 998cc, Desmosedici Straddle R motor which belts out 218bhp and 112Nm. As fancy as all of this sounds, its price tag of Rs 51.87 lakhs is equally astounding.

2. Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition -

Now that Ducati has moved on from its twin-cylinder mill, wouldn’t having one of the final bikes with this motor mean sheer exclusivity? The Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition, as the name suggests, is actually the last chapter in the Italian manufacturer’s L-twin sportsbike history. Moreover, similar to the V4 R, this is also a homologation special bike. It comes adorned with a unique tricolour livery and race-spec components. Powered by a 1285cc, L-twin motor, it churns out 203.5bhp and 142Nm. Priced at Rs 51.82 lakhs, only 1299 units of the Final Edition have been produced and each one bears its serial number of production. Meanwhile, the buyer also gets a certificate of authenticity.

1. Kawasaki Ninja H2R -

Last but definitely not the least, the Kawasaki Ninja H2R is currently the most expensive motorcycle one can buy in India. If you are willing to (or rather, are able to) pay Rs 72 lakhs for this motorcycle, it comes with a long list of traits which you can brag about. Its 998cc, Supercharged engine pumps out a jaw-dropping 317bhp of power and 165Nm of torque. Additionally, the body paint heals the borne scratches on its own! Sadly though, a buyer cannot take such a prized possession out on the road as it can be ridden legally only on a race track. There are more such facts which one should know about the H2R before buying it and we have mentioned them here
