The Hero Splendor retains the number one spot on the sales chart for April 2014 as well. Last year it remained the highest selling two-wheeler with 1,48,944 units sold in the same month. This year in April, 1,79,087 units of the Splendor were sold, showing a growth of 20 per cent in sales.
Another motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp, the Passion, lost its second rank in April 2013 to the Honda Activa. In comparison to the 1,22,174 Passion motorcycles sold in April last year, 1,31,547 units were sold in the same month this year still not as much as the Activa. The Honda Activa pushed the Passion down to climb up to second position with 1,45,719 units sold in April 2014. Honda had sold 1,12,036 units of the Activa in the corresponding period last year.
While the Hero HF Deluxe climbed up one spot to position itself in the fourth position, the Honda CB Shine earned itself two ranks higher than its last year's position to fifth rank. The Discover lost last year's fourth position and fell to the seventh spot with only 60,331 units sold in April 2014 as against 1,01,354 units in April last year.
The other two-wheelers retained their positions showing marginal but steady growth in sales. Check the following chart for more details.
