A lowered bobber version of the Triumph Bonneville has been spotted undergoing trials near the company’s development facility in Barcelona, Spain. This is the first time that such a prototype has been spotted testing, giving us a glimpse at the British manufacturer’s plans of entering an entirely new segment.
Though technical details about the bike are sparse, reports suggest that the Bonneville bobber will be offered with a revamped 1,100cc version of the parallel-twin engine from the Bonneville. However, this engine gets water cooling, which along with the displacement bump should significantly improve the bobber’s performance. The Bonneville bobber has been comprehensively redesigned to lend it the old-school look of a low-slung custom motorcycle. It also gets a solo seat and inverted bar end mirrors.
The Bonneville bobber is expected to be the first motorcycle in the new line of liquid-cooled Triumph models, which will include a café racer, a scrambler and a wire-spoked T100. The motorcycle is expected to be unveiled by September this year as a 2017 model, though it will only go on sale by next year.
