Triumph Motorcycles has extended its Indian line-up with the launch of the Speedmaster. This new cruiser has been priced at Rs 11.11 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
With the Speedmaster, Triumph has finally made its presence felt in a segment where Harley-Davidon has been leading the charts. The Harley-Davidon 1200 Custom rival has been built on the same platform as the Bobber. In fact, most of the cycle parts are same. But in order to accommodate the pillion rider, the British manufacturer has given the Speedmaster a new subframe, a different suspension setup and pillion seat.
The Speedmaster gets its power from a 1200cc ‘High-Torque’ motor that produces 76bhp at 6100rpm and 106Nm at 4000rpm. The same motor is seen on the single-seater Bobber. Triumph has increased the fuel-tank capacity to 12-litres to give the cruiser a bit more in touring capabilities. The bike also gets Brembo brakes for the front and a single-disc Nissin at the rear. It is equipped with two riding modes- road and rain, switchable traction control, cruise control along with ABS.
The bookings for the Speedmaster has already begun across all Triumph dealerships in the country. The bike is being assembled at the company’s Haryana plant. The bike comes with 2 years unlimited kilometres warranty and has a service interval of 16,000kms. The British manufacturer is offering the bike with two inspiration kits, Highway and Maverick. The Highway kit gets pannier set and adjustable windscreen, whereas the Maverick has a stripped-down look with a single-seat setup.
