Triumph has revealed the Bonneville Speedmaster, a higher-spec, cruiser version of the Bonneville Bobber.
The Speedmaster uses the same 1200cc ‘High-Torque’ engine as the Bobber. This unit produces 76bhp at 6100rpm and 106Nm at 4000rpm. It also shares the Bobber’s ‘swing-cage’ type swingarm. Although, the bike gets a new sub-frame with a removable pillion seat and grab-rail unlike the Bobber.
Triumph has increased the fuel-tank capacity to 12-litres to give the cruiser a bit more in touring capabilities. The Speedmaster gets a suspension upgrade with 41mm KYB forks up front. The rear gets a KYB monoshock that is hidden away under the seat. The bike also gets Brembo brakes for the front and a single-disc Nissin at the rear.
The bike features two riding modes- Road and Rain. The bike also gets switchable traction control and cruise control along with ABS. The analogue speedometer includes a gear-indicator, fuel gauge, range display, clock, dual trips along with average and current fuel consumption. The display is controlled by a scroll wheel on the handlebar.
Although earlier Speedmasters had alloy wheels, this one has 32-spoke wire wheels, both 16-inch. Triumph is also offering two ‘inspiration kits’- the Highway kit and the Maverick kit. While the Highway kit adds a tall screen, comfort seat and panniers, the Maverick kit adds a flat handlebar and single seat.
The bike comes in two shades of black along with red and white colour schemes. Triumph has not yet unveiled the prices or availability of the bike although we can see it on Indian shores by early next year. The Bonneville Speedmaster will compete against the Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom and the Indian Scout.
