Triumph has launched the 2016 Bonneville T120 in the Indian market, priced at Rs 8.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Bonneville T120 is the successor to the long-running Bonneville T100 classic, and has been slotted between the Thruxton and the Street Twin.
The new Bonnveille T120 pays homage to the original Bonneville racers of the late 1960s. While it might look very similar to its predecessor, the Bonneville T120 is based on a completely new liquid-cooled platform. The classic appeal of the motorcycle has been further enhanced thanks to the liberal use of chrome and retro detailing.
The Bonneville T120 is powered by a 1200cc liquid-cooled ‘high torque’ engine, which delivers 105Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. The engine has been tuned to deliver 54 per cent more torque in the lower rev range, which should significantly enhance its rideability. The Bonneville T120 comes armed with ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire throttle and a slip-assist clutch. It gets conventional telescopic forks in the front and twin shocks at the rear. The Bonneville T120 rides on 18-inch and 17-inch chromed spoke wheels for the front and rear respectively.
The Triumph Bonneville T120 can also be specified in a Scrambler Inspiration Kit, for an additional cost. It is available in four retro paint schemes - jet black, cranberry red/aluminium silver, jet black/pure white and lava red. It will compete with the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight. Though the bike has been launched, deliveries will commence only by March 2016.
