-Supposed to be launched in May
-Expected to launch by end of June or first week of July
The launch of the Triumph Daytona 660 has been delayed once again. The middleweight supersport was supposed to go on sale around May 2024 but it has since been delayed. In fact, bookings have also been open for a few weeks but there is no sign of the bike. Word is that Triumph will launch the Daytona 660 either by the end of June or in the first half of July.
The Daytona 660 is based on the Triumph Trident 660 platform. While it bears the iconic, “Daytona” name, it is nowhere near as focused and committed as the Triumph Daytona 675 that was once on sale in India.
The design of the Daytona 660 is sharp and sporty while under the bodywork it got a tubular steel perimeter frame that is suspended by a Showa 41mm USD and a preload adjustable monoshock. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 310mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.
The Daytona 660 is powered by a 660c, inline-triple engine that produces 95bhp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8,250rpm. What’s notable is that 80 percent of the torque is available at 3,125rpm. That should translate to easy rideability.
The bike also has a decent amount of kit that includes LED lights all around, Bluetooth connectivity and three ride modes- Rain, Road and Sport.
Triumph is expected to price the Daytona 660 around Rs.9 lakh to 9.25 lakh, ex-showroom. Once launched in India, it will go up against the Kawasaki Ninja 650.
