Triumph has finally launched the Daytona 660 in India and it is priced at Rs. 9.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Daytona is based on the same platform as the Triumph Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660.
Although completely different from its predecessor, the Daytona 660 borrows slight design cues from the older Daytona 675. It gets a split LED headlight with a transparent windscreen. That said, the Daytona 660 appears to be relatively more accommodating and more of a sports tourer than an outright supersports motorcycle.
Triumph has used the same 660cc inline three-cylinder engine in the Daytona as it does for the Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660. However, the Daytona makes 95bhp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8,250rpm, which is slightly more than the remaining two. On the feature front, the Daytona packs all LED illumination, three ride modes - Rain, Road and Sport and dual-channel ABS as standard.
Even the hardware for the Daytona 660 is quite premium as the bike rides on 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD fork and a Showa monoshock with preload adjustment. Its braking hardware includes twin 310mm front discs and a 220mm disc at the rear.
Bookings for the Triumph Daytona 660 began a while back and you can purchase it in three paint schemes – Snowdonia White, Satin Granite, and Carnival Red. It rivals the Kawasaki Ninja 650 which is priced at Rs. 7.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
