The Triumph Daytona 660 will be the third model based on the 660cc platform after the Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660. The motorcycle has been spotted undergoing testing, and recently, Triumph released an official teaser of its global unveil. In this story, we tell you everything you should know about the Daytona 650.
Design
The styling will be inspired by the Triumph Daytona Moto2 765, which is the bike maker’s limited edition supersport in the segment. The front fascia will get split-type LED headlamps that are neatly integrated into the layered fairing. Spy pictures have revealed that the bike has a muscular fuel tank and a semi-circular instrument cluster.
Engine Specifications
Powering the Triumph Daytona 660 will be a 660cc, inline triple-cylinder engine that also powers the Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660. It produces an output of 80bhp and a peak torque of 64Nm. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox. We expect the engine to get a slightly different tuning to offer a sportier riding experience.
Features
The bike will come equipped with full-LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Meanwhile, the electronics package is expected to include a bi-directional quickshifter, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple riding modes, and a traction control system.
Hardware
The Daytona 660 seems to be underpinned by the same chassis as the Trident 660, but it will get a different sub-frame to accommodate the raked-out tail section. The motorcycle will be suspended on USD forks up front and a rear monoshock. It will ride on 17-inch alloys that will be shod with Michelin tyres. Meanwhile, braking duties will be handled by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the back.
Launch Timeline
The Daytona 660 will make its global debut on 9 January. Although it’s too early to speculate about the motorcycle’s India launch, we believe Triumph should launch it in India in the second half of this year, as the other two 660s are already on sale in India.
