Recently we reported about Triumph Motorcycles recalling several units of the Daytona 675R in the United States for the defective Ohlins shock absorber.
The Indian arm of the British manufacturer has recalled around 34 units of the Daytona 675R for the same issue. The affected units have been manufactured between 2013 and 2015. As per the company, the suspension’s piston shaft nut was machined incorrectly during the assembly process and tends to come loose. This causes the absorber to lose damping control and even leak oil in some cases. This could prove fatal during rides, however, the company hasn't reported any casualties in India.
The company has already contacted the affected customers and will be replacing the Ohlins shock absorber free of cost. This recall is a part of global recall by Ohlins that has not only affected Triumph Motorcycles, but also companies like Yamaha and Honda, who have had to recall the YZF-R1M and the CBR1000RR-SP respectively.
