Just few days ago, we reported about Triumph Motorcycles global sales which hit a new record since it came back to business in 1984. Now, the Indian arm of the British manufacturer has officially released their 2014 sales report, which stands at 1,300 units.
Since it began operations in India in the late 2013, Triumph Motorcycles India has launched 11 motorcycles across five segments like the Classics, Cruisers, Adventure, Roadsters and Supersports. The British manufacturer hasn’t disclosed the model-wise sales figures, but as per our source, the Boneville and the Street Triple contributes the most in the overall sales.
We are sure the sales numbers would have been much higher, if the company didn’t get entangled in the power figures fiasco. The company reportedly claimed different power figures in their official Indian website and brochures but the actual output on the bikes were comparatively quite less. However, this issue has been resolved by compensating the affected owners, but it has surely damaged the brand.
“In India, we have had a dream run this past year having clocked 1,300 sales. We are delighted with the way things have panned out for us in the last year. It has been extremely rewarding in terms of both sales and the love we have got from Triumph enthusiasts. Globally also this has been a great year for Triumph Motorcycles. We have not only established ourselves as a front runner in the luxury motorcycles industry but have also been successful in adding value to the our global sales figures,” said Vimal Sumbly, managing director, Triumph Motorcycles India.
