Triumph Motorcycles issues recall for its modern retro series

- Recall issued to rectify damage to main wiring harness due to contact with the clutch cable

- A total of 12,654 motorcycles have been affected by the recall

- Under the measure, the clutch cable securing guide and main wiring harness will be replaced

Triumph Motorcycles has issued a recall of certain motorcycles belonging to its modern classic series. Manufactured between 2016 and 2019, five models comprising of the Bonneville T120, Bonneville T100, Street Scrambler, Street Twin and the Street Cup have been affected by the recall. 

According to the report issued by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the clutch cable on these motorcycles may come in contact with the main wiring harness, causing damage to the wiring. This can lead to malfunctioning of the headlamps, indicators or also cause the engine to stall, thereby increasing the risk of the mishap. 

The remedy for the issue will be the replacement of the original securing guide for the clutch cable and the main wiring harness with an updated one. Triumph will be contacting the owners of the affected motorcycles while dealers will be replacing the concerned parts free of cost.

Reportedly, a total of 12,654 motorcycles have been affected by the recall. As for India, the company is yet to comment on the same.
