- Triumph issues recall in the US
- Affects Street Triple and Tiger 1200 models
- No such recall in India yet
Triumph Motorcycles has issued a recall in the USA addressing faulty front brake pads on a few models.
The recall affects around 3,700 units of the Street Triple RS, Speed Triple RS, Street Triple S as well as the Tiger 1200 that have been manufactured between 2018-2020. According to the report by the National Highway Transport Safety Administration (NHTSA), the faulty Brembo pads have a high concentration of nickel which causes the material to absorb a greater amount of salt and water.
This could cause the front brake pads to corrode at a faster rate than usual resulting in it detaching from the backplate, which might lead to the brakes to fail without warning.
While the date of recall hasn’t been revealed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Triumph Motorcycles USA has announced that the affected motorcycles’ brake pads will be replaced free of charge. On the other hand, no such recall has been announced in India yet. However, we recommend visiting the nearest dealership to check for the issue once the lockdown has been lifted in the country.
