Triumph Motorcycles have recalled certain models of the 2011-2012 Daytona 675 and the Street Triple, along with some models of the 2012 Thunderbird and Thunderbird Storm motorcycles in USA. The recall is due to poor quality of the wheel bearings that could fail unexpectedly and might lead to a crash. A total of 250 motorcycles have been affected and the company is in the process of contacting all owners for replacement of the bearings.
Triumph Motorcycles have launched all the above mentioned motorcycles along with few others in India during the 2012 Auto Expo. Luckily, they haven’t commenced distribution and sales in India as yet, as such incident in the beginning might have hampered their growth. Currently, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter (HMSI) is the only motorcycle company in India who has gone for a recall. They had recalled the CBR250R due to defective braking system.
